Breed Of The Week: Cavapoos

Cavapoos: Breed of the Week

These cute designer dogs are taking over London by storm and are the second most popular hybrid dogs in the UK! A cross between a poodle, usually miniature, and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, cavapoos are known to be small but versatile, extremely friendly and cuddly dogs with a playful nature. This week, we come with the answers to the frequently asked questions about Cavapoos!

—Are Cavapoos suitable for apartment living?

Because they are bred from miniature poodles, cavapoos are quite small in size so can live comfortably in any home. Regular walks up to 2 or 3 times a day are good for the dog as they can be quite energetic. You can get help from our PawsApp walkers for instant or scheduled walks.

—Do Cavapoos shed a lot?

Cavapoos have a thick, luxurious coat which actually doesn’t shed as much as some other dogs, only during the spring and autumn. However it is important to keep up with regular grooming and brushing at least 3 times a week to prevent infections around their eyes, ears and skin, along with professional grooming every few months for maintenance.

—Are Cavapoos hypoallergenic?

Due to being half poodle, cavapoos can be classed as hypoallergenic dogs.

—Are Cavapoos good with other dogs?

Yes, these dogs are usually super friendly with other dogs! They sometimes have the tendency to chase after dogs smaller than them, but with the right training and frequent socialising, cavapoos can get on great with a second dog.

—Do Cavapoos get on well with kids?

Cavapoos are highly affectionate and loyal with other people, and love lots of cuddles! They are great to have with small kids too as they are very family-oriented but children should be supervised around these small dogs.
